Kelly Peterson, Executive Director

Kelly Peterson is the Executive Director for the Superior Business Improvement District, beginning August 2022.  Kelly brings energy and excitement to this position through her love of Superior/Douglas County.  Her vision for the Superior SBID is, “when the SBID businesses do well, our whole community thrives.”  Many stakeholders took advantage of grants during the pandemic, strengthening their own properties and businesses which sparked enthusiasm for others.  Supporting and helping stakeholders develop through engagement, education, and increased opportunities, are her main goals.

Kelly has lived most of her life in Douglas County and resides in South Superior.  She graduated from Northwestern High School in Maple and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Master’s Degree in Education/School Psychology; both from UW Superior.  Kelly comes to the BID finishing a 31+ year career at the Challenge Center, Inc, most recently serving as Residential Director.  Advocating, mentoring, and coaching the people she served has been inspiring and rewarding.

Kelly is a graduate of the Superior/Douglas County Leadership program and was an Ambassador for the Chamber of Commerce.  She became a member of the Rotary Club of Superior and served as President and co-chair of the Lake Superior Dragon Boat Festival.  She serves on the Superior Public Museums and the Development Association’s Boards of directors and became a Douglas County Supervisor, District 10 in 2020, reelected in 2022.

Let’s keep the positive momentum moving forward and continue to make the SBID, truly Superior!
